Description
Summary:This paper is proposed to solve the key problem of network lifetime in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) based upon a hierarchical topology. The hierarchical topology combined low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH) with the popular cluster technique and fuzzy logic for cluster selection. To have a suitable cluster, the node that became a cluster should consider the distance to the base station and remaining energy. The clusters were connected to the base station (a sink) for data reception and transmission. This paper proposes fuzzy logic for cluster selection (FLCE) with an aim to increase the network lifetime of wireless sensor networks. The experimental results of the proposed scheme showed that the FLCE technique increased network lifetime by about 77.5% as compared to low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH).
