Method Research subjects were taken from meningioma 39 cases of meningioma in Anatomical Pathology Laboratory Sardjito Hospital from 2006 until 2011. Parrafin block sections were stained with hematoxyllin eosin, then the histopathological features were observed and meningioma differentiation grade were concluded using WHO criteria by Anatomical Pathology expert. Finally, immunohistochemical staining of Ki 67, progesterone receptor, and was performed Kruskal Wallis Correlation was used to analyze the data. Result There is a weak correlation between Ki-67 immunoreactivity and hitopathological grades of meningioma, but it was statistically insignificant (p = 0.614). Most of meningioma express progesterone receptors ( 74,4%). But the expression of progesterone receptor was insignificantly associated with histopathological grade of meningioma (p=0.575). Conclusion There is weak positive correlation between Ki-67 immunoreactivity and histological grade of meningioma although it was statistically insignificant. There was also no significant correlation between progesterone receptor expression and histopathological grade of meningioma. Background
Meningioma is the most intracranial tumor in human. Eventhough most of cases are benign
meningioma that can be treated with surgical resection, some of cases show recurrency and poor
prognosis. Meningioma histopathological feature is an aggresivity predictor. Certain biomarker
consisting of Ki-67 protein expression and progesterone receptor, can be developed as a factor to
predict tumor recurrence and progression possibility in meningioma patient.
Objective
The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between Ki-67, progesteron receptor, expression
and histopatological grade based on WHO criteria.
Method
Research subjects were taken from meningioma 39 cases of meningioma in Anatomical Pathology
Laboratory Sardjito Hospital from 2006 until 2011.
Parrafin block sections were stained with hematoxyllin eosin, then the histopathological features were
observed and meningioma differentiation grade were concluded using WHO criteria by Anatomical
Pathology expert. Finally, immunohistochemical staining of Ki 67, progesterone receptor, and was
performed Kruskal Wallis Correlation was used to analyze the data.
Result
There is a weak correlation between Ki-67 immunoreactivity and hitopathological grades of
meningioma, but it was statistically insignificant (p = 0.614). Most of meningioma express
progesterone receptors ( 74,4%). But the expression of progesterone receptor was insignificantly
associated with histopathological grade of meningioma (p=0.575).
Conclusion
There is weak positive correlation between Ki-67 immunoreactivity and histological grade of
meningioma although it was statistically insignificant. There was also no significant correlation
between progesterone receptor expression and histopathological grade of meningioma. |
