Description
Summary:Malaysia is one of the Asia’s largest importers of foreign workers. As a relatively well-off country, Malaysia draws migration from some poor country including Indonesia, Bangladesh and Myanmar for who seek for stability and better economic opportunities (Jeffrey Hays, 2015). Foreign workers choose Malaysia as one of the preferable working place due to reason of easy earning since the stability in safety and politics compared to their own country. The main objective of the research is to study the factors that motivate the foreign worker to work in Malaysia. Through the literature review, it has revealed that healthcare service, standard of living, government policy, value of currency, and cultural diversity in workplace are the significant variables that may affect the motivation of foreign worker to work in Malaysia. A conceptual framework and the research hypotheses formulation have also been developed with supported findings to better explain the research. The target population for this research was the foreign workers who work in Malaysia. There are total 200 of the questionnaire to be distributed to them. The sample selected technique was based on non-probability sampling technique. Besides, there are various assumption of tests were carried out to test the result such as Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis. Based on test of Pearson Correlation Coefficient, the study confirmed that healthcare service, standard of living, and government policy are significantly correlated with motivation of foreign worker to work in Malaysia. Whereas in the test of Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, it only showed healthcare service and government policy had significant impact towards motivation of foreign worker to work in Malaysia. By conducting this research, it suggests that Malaysia should put more attention on healthcare service and government policy as they may affect their motivation to immigrate to Malaysia. This will bring huge impact towards Malaysia. Several recommendations on potential improvements are highlighted for future research.
