Description
Summary:According to the social dominance theory, all organizations and social groups have a built-in hierarchy to preserve and maintain stability within itself. The goal of this study is to look further into social dominance and how it affects an employee's work behaviors that constitute a manifestation of organizational citizenship behaviors, and their attitude towards their respective organization by attainment of a measure of the relationship between various dimensions of social dominance and behaviors that constitute organizational citizenship. The conceptual framework was utilized to construct three dimensions of social dominance namely social dominance orientation, social rank, and power relation in order to demonstrate a map display of its relationship with employees' behaviors related to organizational citizenship. The variables that constitute these related behaviors were measured by work performance, counterproductive work behavior, employee commitment, and absenteeism. The study aimed to examine the presence of an existing significant relationship between these variables by statistically analyzing the regression relationship of each constituted social dominance independent variable to each of the behaviors related to organizational citizenship. This research included 102 participant employees and immediate supervisors and was conducted through an online survey method. All individual scores were tested through multiple regression analysis and confirmed that there is indeed an existing relationship between social dominance and behaviors related to organizational citizenship.
