Pyrolysis of biomass materials using the thermogravimetric analyzer and a bench-scale pyrolyzer

The study involves the pyrolysis of several materials (coconut shells, coffee hulls, rice hulls, sugarcane bagasse, narra sawdust, and tanguile sawdust) using the Shimadzu Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) and a Bench-Scale Pyrolyzer. The samples used in the TGA were ground to mesh 140 and dried at 1...

Description
Summary:The study involves the pyrolysis of several materials (coconut shells, coffee hulls, rice hulls, sugarcane bagasse, narra sawdust, and tanguile sawdust) using the Shimadzu Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) and a Bench-Scale Pyrolyzer. The samples used in the TGA were ground to mesh 140 and dried at 100 C. Tests were made for each 5 mg sample at different heating rates (10, 20, and 50 C/min.). Resulting TG curves were used to determine the kinetics of the sample. The samples used in the bench-scale pyrolyzer were ground to mesh 4 and also dried at 100 C. Pyrolysis for each sample (200 g) was performed at different temperature ranges (250, 300, and 350 C). Percent weight loss and percent char remaining were obtained for each sample.
