Chua, Stephanie G. Tia, Charissa R. This research is how the students' definitiveness of chosen profession and the person primarily responsible for choosing the course affect task orientation, learning strategies and academic performance in college. The researchers conducted the study by surveys distributed to De La Salle University students and used path-analytic model to analyze the gathered data. The researchers hypothesized that the more definite the students are of their chosen profession the more it will affect the students' intrinsic motivation, learning strategy and academic performance. And if the person responsible in choosing the course is primarily the student himself, his task orientation, learning strategy and academic performance will also be affected. The higher the task orientation in studying will result in higher learning strategy of the student to get higher academic performance that can be seen in their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). And it was seen in the results that there were several significant paths. It was shown that the higher the definitiveness of profession the more task oriented the student is that will result to better learning strategies and in turn will have a higher academic performance. It was also shown the more closely the percentage that the person who choose the course is the self the better the learning strategies and academic performance. There were also direct and indirect effects discussed in this research study. 2007-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/10724 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Counseling in higher education--Philippines Vocational guidance--Philippines College student orientation Psychology |
