Summary: | This study focused on the reasons why adults engage themselves in adult education. It also studied the motivation of individuals and how these motivations interacted to influence the attitudes and behavior of a person. Another goal of the study found out how motivations are built with the assistance of emotion, conation, self development and inter-personal factors. All these were made known to the researchers through in-depth interview and content analysis. The results showed that adults see the purpose of education in a different sense as they go on the process of education and are therefore pushed by different, deeper, inter-connected motivations to perform well. It also showed a complicated motivational process of how one comes up with his/her own motivation and how this process leads to goal-oriented behavior in terms of pursuing education at a later age. |
