Description
Summary:Mining is one of the biggest industries in the Philippines, and one of the major problems within the industry is its waste disposal. The study on the determination of geotechnical properties of mine tailings of selected mining sites in the Philippines will give ideas and information on its classification and characteristics, thus optimizing the possible use of mine tailings and have understanding on its behavior which will be useful in the design of tailing dams for slope stability and seepage analysis. The three main tailing sample shared familiar characteristics based from the results of the laboratory tests they exhibited low plasticity or none at all, they have fines features, they were considered cohesionless, has low value of coefficient of permeability, having same range of dry unit weight, almost have the same soil classification, the angle of friction were all greater that 45º, thus can be concluded that the three mine tailings from the study were similar to each other.
