Description
Summary:Philippine traffic is a huge problem. Today, officials in charge of assessing this problem use human-based methods to analyze traffic conditions of different roads. This method allows human error, inaccuracy, inconsistency, and discrepancy. This thesis aims to find a more systematic approach to analyzing traffic conditions by creating a program with the use of image processing and MATLAB, as well as a pre-set criterion for traffic situation basis. However, the problem and solution does not end there because information dissemination is poorly executed since it is not readily available to all motorists behind the wheel. Although social media is already part of the means of communicating the traffic situation, not all drivers have Internet access. With that, and in addition to a website that the group will create that will show the traffic condition of a certain area and the live stream footage of said area, SMS or text messaging will be used as a medium of circulating the traffic information being the most common and handy means of communication in the Philippines, it is considered to be more effective in information distribution.
