Description
Summary:Competitiveness of combative sport athletes were measured using a mixed design. Quantitative design was used to measure the competitiveness of these combative sport athletes through Sports Orientation Questionnaire. 60 combative sport athletes were gathered and high scoring respondents of 14 were used as participants for a qualitative study through two focus group discussions. Although the researchers only proposed 3 stages before the data gathering, the researchers were able to formulate 4 stages of the development of competitiveness. These stages consist of identifying one’s ability, development of one’s skill, motivation to compete and sense competition. Aside from the stages, the perception of combative sport athletes were also gathered and showed in congruency with the reviewed literature.
