The system study is concerned with the plant operations of the meat processing department of Mofel's Food International Corporation, particularly the production of Purefoods Hormel Hotdog and Poultry Hotdog. The system involved the production planning and the production itself. Furthermore, the quality assurance and daily machine maintenance of the equipment were also studied. The main problem determined during the period of August 2000 to August 2001 was that the average percent yield per month of 90,75% is below the system's target of 92%. This is a serious problem because it amounts to Php 2,521,424 in losses due to penalty costs. Three causes were determined to have contributed to the problem. These are machine breakdowns, open and loose ended hotdogs, and batches to be reworked. The system experiences a monthly average of 59% of open and loose ended hotdogs and 41% batches to be reworked. The average monthly machine utilization is 75%. In addressing these causes, alternative solutions were generated. The proposed systems consist of replacing the cutting machine and installing visual markers and indicators. The feasibility of implementing the proposed system was evaluated by enumerating all the costs and benefits brought about by the system that will be adopted. These solutions are estimated to gain a benefit of Php 15,340,350. 2002-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/12076 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository |
