Description
Summary:The main objective of this thesis is to provide a tool for undergraduate students to put into actual applications the theoretical knowledge about the 8088 microprocessor which they acquired in the classrooms. The ALP 8088 Training Kit incorporates a two-pass assembler to eliminate the problem of hand-assembling programs. This training kit can accommodate more than one program in its memory which can then be executed one at a time. The existing 8088 Training Kit system served as basis for developing this thesis. A thorough research was made on the existing system. As a result, the hardware part is very similar to that of the existing system. A major limitation of the ALP 8088 Training Kit is that it cannot perform inter-segment operation due to the problem of lack of commercially available software support in the Philippines which will convert more than 64K programs into its binary form. This means that the ROM and the RAM together have to be within the 64K boundary. Addition of more peripheral 1/0 devices and enhancing the assembler into a full-blown one are just some of the recommendations the proponents feel are useful.
