Gas chromatography is the most elegant and usefull of all the chromatographic methods. It functions by separating volatile samples through an inert carrier gas made to sweep past through a long and narrow tube, containing a sorbent and kept at appropriate temperatures. The sample is introduced at one end of the tube, and the effluent gas, emerging at the other end, passes through a detector. The detector response through a recorder, referred to as the chromatogram, consisting of a series of peaks. The position of the peak in the chromatogram may be used for the identification of sample components, and the size of the peaks may be used for estimating their amounts. The Automated Gas Chromatography provides an enhancement of the method of how data be presented. Currently, the plotted hardcopy of the Gas Chromatograph Machine is the source of data. There is no automated analyzer, but a recorder. Now, an enhancement will come up in the form of a dedicated Personal Computer as a recorder and analyzer. The recorder functions as a collector of signals coming from the Gas Chromatograph Machine. The analyzer determines the requirements needed in the project. The project will also deal with interfacing the Personal Computer to the Gas Chromatograph Machine. Moreover, programming to collect the data and to interpret the data to presentation form is also included. The presentation form comes by hardcopy and screen output. 1990-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16400 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Gas chromatography Data compression (Computer science) Machine theory Programming (Electronic computers)
