Description
Summary:Since Information Technology (IT) is an essential component of businesses, recent studies are now looking into the application of green management strategies to IT systems. Hence the term Green IT, which is a multifaceted construct that aims to address both IT and non-IT related environmental sustainability problems with the use of IT solutions (Elliot & Binney, 2008). As more organizations become concerned with Green IT, there is a need to assess their capability or state of maturity for implementing and sustaining Green IT strategies and policies (G-Readiness). In this study, the researchers measured and analyzed the G-Readiness level of Philippine-based financial broker International Marketing Group (IMG) using the Green IT Readiness framework developed by Molla, Cooper & Pittayachawan (2009). This framework identified five dimensions of Green IT Readiness, which are Green IT Attitude, Policy, Practice, Technology and Governance. By applying these five dimensions to the IT infrastructure of IMG, the researchers were able to identify the Green IT Readiness level of IMG using the modified Capability Maturity Model (CMM) of Philipson (2010). Results show that IMG is in the Optimized level, which means that the company is highly capable of incorporating eco-sustainable initiatives into its IT system. With this, the researchers developed a plan of action for the company knowing that it has great potential for greening its operations.
