Description
Summary:This thesis intends to explain how family-owned manufacturing businesses expand their companies. Utilizing a model-building approach, it discusses the process of how various factors - the business characteristics (age, size, financial resources, and corporate strategy), ownership structure, and family characteristics - affect the decision as to what growth and expansion strategies the company will undergo, with consideration as well to the external environment (specific industry environment, local geographic environment, and general economic environment) at the time of expansion. It also explains a more applicable working model after a pattern was established in terms of the four companies (Sterling Paper Products Enterprises Inc., Philippine Starch Industrial Corporation, VECO Paper Corporation, and Mansfield International Inc.) studied herein.
