Acute toxicity of carbaryl (Sevin 85) to Ampullaria sp.

Static, acute toxicity tests were conducted to determine the percent mortality of the edible snail, Ampullaria sp. to the insecticide, carbaryl (Sevin 85). The 96-hr LC50 of carbaryl was estimated using the linear regression method. Results of the study showed a direct relationship between the perce...

Static, acute toxicity tests were conducted to determine the percent mortality of the edible snail, Ampullaria sp. to the insecticide, carbaryl (Sevin 85). The 96-hr LC50 of carbaryl was estimated using the linear regression method. Results of the study showed a direct relationship between the percent mortality of Ampullaria sp. and the concentration of the pesticide. Snails exposed to 325 mg/L of carbaryl obtained a 37.7% mortality. In the 350 mg/L concentration, mortality was 44.4 % and 51.5% at 375 mg/L. Snails in the 400 mg/L concentration had a percent mortality of 57.7 and 68.7% at 425 mg/L. The 450 mg/L concentration had a mortality of 81.07%. Mortality in the control group was observed at 1.1%. The median lethal concentration (LC50) of carbaryl to edible snails Ampullaria sp. was estimated at 340.37 mg/L" 1997-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1412 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Insecticides--Toxicology Carbaryl Snails Edible Acute toxicity testing
