Homeland calls is an undergraduate cultural studies thesis that consists of a collection of selected untranslated poems by modern contemporary Taiwanese poet Chen Li that are to be translated into the language of English. The poetry translation is a semantic translation that will accurately depict the culture, aesthetic, language and other elements of Taiwanese poetry. Following the translation and collection of poems there will be a critical essay on contemporary Taiwanese poetry and its significance to the global literary community, focusing on how poetry reflect a symbiotic and universal relationship between countries and cultures and how poetry responds to the loss of identity in our culture's consciousness. This would also include a process essay on translating poetry that focuses on the elements I believe would make good translation and the factors I put into consideration whilst translating the text myself: theory of books of poetry, recognition of foreign poetry circles and its poetic originality. The dissertation is structured in two parts: (1) introduction, which includes the biography, statement of the problem, the objectives of the study, significance of the study, and notes on translation and (2) poetry, poetry analysis, summary, conclusion and recommendation. 2017-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/2906 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Poetry--Translating Prose poems--Translating Comparative Literature
