Determination of calcium, iron, phosphorous, and potassium in ubi and its starch
This study aimed to extract starch from two varieties of ubi, namely Dark Ubi (Ubing Maitim) and Light Ubi (Gabing Malaki). It was found out that both samples contain considerable amounts of starch. The as in and starch portions of the samples were analyzed for their calcium content using atomic abs...

This study aimed to extract starch from two varieties of ubi, namely Dark Ubi (Ubing Maitim) and Light Ubi (Gabing Malaki). It was found out that both samples contain considerable amounts of starch. The as in and starch portions of the samples were analyzed for their calcium content using atomic absorption method. Results showed that the as in and starch portion of Dark ubi contain higher contents of calcium that the Light ubi samples. Atomic absorption spectrophotometric method was also employed in the analysis of iron in the two varieties. Results revealed that the two portions of Dark ubi contain dominantly higher concentrations of Fe than the Light ubi samples. The UV - VIS spectrophtometric analysis was used in the determination of phosphorous adopting the ammonium-- molybdate method. The results obtained show that the Dark ubi samples have higher F contents than the Light Ubi samples. In the determination of potassium, flame emission method was adopted. From the results obtained, the K contents in the as in and starch portion of Dark ubi were notably higher than the portions of Light ubi. 1989-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/2967 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Root crops Starch crops Starch Chemistry |
