Monitoring oyster (Crassostrea iredalei) growth using plot hanging method bitin and sampayan at Bacoor Bay

Oyster growth was monitored once a month from June 1996 to January 1997. Water parameters like temperature, pH, salinity and conductivity, hardness and dissolved oxygen were likewise monitored and was related to oyster growth. Cong, Maritess C. Oyster growth was monitored once a month from June 1996 to January 1997. Water parameters like temperature, pH, salinity and conductivity, hardness and dissolved oxygen were likewise monitored and was related to oyster growth. Plot-hanging bitin method and plot-hanging sampayan method were also compared to know which of the two is more effective. Water parameters such as temperature, pH, salinity and conductivity and hardness were found to be directly related to oyster growth thus, an increase in the parameter resulted to an increase in oyster growth and vice versa. On the other hand, dissolved oxygen was found to be indirectly related to oyster growth wherein an increase in dissolved oxygen would cause a decrease in oyster growth. Considering the data gathered on oyster growth, plot-hanging bitin method was found to be more effective than plot-hanging sampayan method. This can be supported by the fact that the growth rate of oysters was relatively higher than that of Plot-Hanging Method. Inspite of this, plot-hanging bitin method encountered problems related to siltation and the presence of predators. On the other hand, plot-hanging sampayan method did not encounter such related problems but was proven to have slower growth rate. 1997-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/4119 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Oyster culture--Philippines--Cavite Biology
