A comparative study on the characteristics of mercury (Hg) doped BSCCO superconductors
Mercury (Hg)-doped BSCCO superconductors were prepared using a modified solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the co-existence of the high-Tc and low-Tc phases in all the samples. Summary: | Mercury (Hg)-doped BSCCO superconductors were prepared using a modified solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the co-existence of the high-Tc and low-Tc phases in all the samples. The sample with the most number of high-Tc peaks had the nominal composition Hg0.4Bi2.0Sr2.0Ca2.0Cu3.0Oy. This sample was annealed at 850 centigrade for 72 hours. Electrical resistivity measurement of this sample showed a two-step resistive transition. Zero resistivity was attained at 105K. The resistivity versus temperature graphs of the samples confirmed the presence of the high-Tc and low-Tc phases. |
