| Summary: | The study was done to determine the histological effects of varying dose of Liveraide (Silybum marianum), a medicinal herb on the kidneys and livers of laboratory mice (Mus muculus). Twenty four mice were used in the study. The mice were divided into 2 groups and forcefully fed with two different dosages of Liveraide. The first group was given 0.05 mg/ml Liveraide solution once a day, the minimum dosage group. The second group was given 0.11 mg/ml Liveraide solution once a day. The amount of dosage was based from the instruction of the drug use. The laboratory mice had there meals at 7:00am, 1200 noon and 5:00pm. At the first week, the mice were given time to acclimatize and therefore were not given the dosages. At the end of the first week, 2 mice were sacrificed as the control group. For the succeeding 4 weeks, 2 mice were randomly sacrificed. The livers and kidneys were procured and processed. Light microscopy work was done to ascertain the histological conditions of the mice. |
