Description
Summary:This study was conducted to determine whether job strain causes a change in the blood pressure of the ER residents in Makati Medical Center. The respondents were asked to answer the Job Content Questionnaire to measure job strain. The scales used to measure job strain were decision latitude, psychological job demands and social support. Blood pressure before and after each shift was measured. It was a 12- hour shift starting from 7 am-7 pm and 7pm-7 am. Results of the questionnaire showed that the residents have high levels of job strain. There was a decrease in the diastolic blood pressure, however the difference was not statistically significant to the blood pressure of the study population in general.
