Dormer and non-dormer college students' perception of their social ecology affecting thier academic achievement

This study investigates the social ecology of dormer and non-dormer college students and its effect on their academic achievement. It examined two (2) different factors that may effect their academic achievement: housing situation and social influence. It also further examined how housing situation and social influence contribute to academic adjustment. In addition, the researchers took into account other contributions such as distraction and interdependence. Thirty (30) interviews were done. The subjects of the study were fifteen (15) dormers and fifteen (15) non-dormers coming from three universities namely, De La Salle University-Manila, Ateneo de Manila University and University of the Philippines. Results show that dormers and non-dormers perceived helpful and hindering effects caused by both housing situation and social influence.
