Isolation and antibacterial screening of actinomycetes from soil and leaf samples collected within the DLSU campus

Screening for antibacterial properties of the isolates was done using the Cross Streak method. Of the 25 isolates from leaves, 72 percent (18) inhibited Bacillus subtilis, 56 percent (14) inhibited Staphylococcus aureus, and 24 percent (6) inhibited Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Of the 15 isolates from the soil, 47 percent (7) inhibited S. aureus, 40 percent (6) inhibited B. subtilis, and 27 percent (4) inhibited P. aerugenosa.
