Summary: | From the time the Chinese settled in the Philippines until now, they have been known to keep to themselves, preferring to preserve their bloodline and culture. One way of ensuring this is by marrying those only of Chinese descent and upbringing. This practice can be traced back to the early tradition of arranged marriages, wherein matchmakers were hired to find a marriage partner for a certain person.
Currently, a modern way of finding a prospective match is being practiced by some Filipino-Chinese. In speed Dating, a group with an equal number of men and women are put together in one event . This goes on until all the males meet all the females, and vice versa.
