One way of ensuring this is by marrying those only of Chinese descent and upbringing. This practice can be traced back to the early tradition of arranged marriages, wherein matchmakers were hired to find a marriage partner for a certain person. Currently, a modern way of finding a prospective match is being practiced by some Filipino-Chinese. In speed Dating, a group with an equal number of men and women are put together in one event . The participants are asked to spend 3 minutes conversing with a person of the opposite sex. After 3 minutes, they move on to the next person. This goes on until all the males meet all the females, and vice versa. This documentary looks into how the traditional frame of mind of Filipino-Chinese regarding mate selection is preserved even when they participate in the very modern practice of Speed Dating.
