The dependence of this process on human operators and material handlers leads to the occurrences of maverick lots. To address this problem, a prototype of an oven autoload switch, complete with an inter-locking system and an end-of-curing alarm, was developed and installed in the box oven. The prototype's aim was to create a fool-proof system for the box oven curing process. It was observed that the installation of the system led to higher control effectiveness attributed to the elimination of human dependent variables. It also led to the elimination of curing-related defects caused by the human factor.
