An ethnobotanical study of the Dumagats in Malinao, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija and screening of some Dumagat medicinal plants for antimicrobial properties

An ethnobotanical study was made on the Dumagats of Malinao, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija. Their ethnography and useful plants on the following categories: food, building materials, and medicine were noted. Out of 110 plant species, 86 were identified. There was a significant ethnobotanical relationship obtained in terms of the high dependence of the Dumagats on plants for almost all aspects of their lives. An account of the tribe's ethnography provided a basis in assessing the tribe's role in environmental protection.
