Description
Summary:The aim of this application is to incorporate wearable technology, such as Google Glass, in our everyday lives. This project is designed to be a system that enables anyone with the application and equipment to be able to navigate the indoor and outdoor areas of the Manila Campus of De La Salle University. The users are asked to choose their desired location from the list shown by the Google Glass applications main menu. After the users have chosen their desired location, the Google Glass will display a map equipped with a routing path from the starting location to the desired destination, and a blue dot indicator to display the current position of the users (for indoor navigation). A data logging features is incorporated into this application by logging the movements of the user through the use of QR coded checkpoints to transition from indoor to outdoor navigation, and vice versa. The systems indoor positioning system (IPS) made use of magnetic positioning technology by recording the geomagnetic fingerprints of the indoor areas such as classrooms and offices using the Indoor Atlas API. The routing algorithm used was the spanning tree concept. This application will serve as a proof of concept for future possible sites of implementation such as malls, government buildings, etc.
