Description
Summary:The feature film addresses issues mostly about education-- the discrepancies in the Philippine education setting, and the teacher-student relationship. In the Philippines, there is a big discrepancy in educational attainments across social groups when we talk about its affordability. Financially-challenged students have higher dropout rates in elementary level. Moreover, Pianta's Adult-Child Relationship Processes and Early Scooling (1997) indicates that teachers take part in supporting the intellectual, emotional, and social development of children. This research and short feature aims to present how a mentor could positively transform the life of a hopeless student by making him realize that he can be a better version of himself. Since most of the teacher-student type of films like August Rush (2007) and Whiplash (2014) focus on the struggles of the student, this feature will focus on the teacher's point of view in his efforts to inspire and motivate his student who is constantly being brought down by the people around him, and expectantly be the silver lining to his student's dark cloud. The group wants to show that each person has his or her own talents which may not always be looked up as something worth giving a shot, and with the right motivation from the right people, lives may be changed for the better. The group also wants to show that even a small sacrifice from someone may go a long way to help not only another person but also him/herself.
