Description
Summary:This experimental study seeks to establish the different mechanisms of heat transfer of molasses. The study involves the use of table size calorimeter apparatus and the monitoring of the physical changes of molasses in the vessel for thirty minutes. The experiment required taking temperature readings at three different levels of heat source. Six trials of this experiment were conducted for each concentration of molasses and for pure coconut water. The data obtained were correlated with changes in viscosities, densities, and computed values of heat transfer coefficients. The results showed that the mechanism of heat transfer governing the flow of heat for molasses inside an insulated vertical copper tube is a combination of conduction and convection.
