This thesis intends to understand how the use of social media affects a student's identity development. 300 students were asked to answer an online survey for the quantitative study, along with five interviewees for the qualitative study. Results showed that there is a significant relationship between identity development and the use of social media. The correlation showed a p-level of 0.000, therefore leads to a posiitve correlation. Furthermore, the findings of the qualitative study showed that the factors that define identity are the perception, presentation and uniqueness of a student which is developed through the adaptability, growth, and influence. Lastly, social media platforms or websites a student may use would include Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and many more.
