The sports emotional-reaction profile of selected Philippine intercollegiate basketball players according to their physical and mental training

Using quantitative methods, this study aimed to determine the relationship of physical and mental training with the Sports Emotional-Reaction Profile created by Tutko and Tosi (1976). This test includes seven psychological traits, namely desire, assertiveness, sensitivity, tension control, confidence, personal accountability and self-discipline. As such, seventy five male Philippine intercollegiate basketball players from five different colleges were surveyed and tested. Based from data obtained, it was concluded that the type of physical training had a very weak but significant impact on desire and confidence. Mental training, on the other hand, was concluded to have a significant correlation with assertiveness, sensitivity, tension control, confidence, and self-discipline.
