Description
Summary:The COMPUTER-BASED EDITOR SYSTEM FOR THE BLIND combines adaptive electronic equipment and the braille system of writing together to produce an editor system for the blind. A user-friendly editor program, using a DOS-based TURBO VISION software, coupled with a Sound Blaster speech synthesizer, and accompanied by a text to braille translator program, using the C++ language, forms the software part of the thesis. The hardware part would have a modified keyboard for its input device, and a modified printer to provide a hard-copy output in braille. The user would also have an option of having a hard-copy output in text by using a conventional printer. With the editor system, the blind can now effectively communicate not only with other blind people, but also with normal people as well.
