Summary:This is a study on selected poems from Luisa Igloria's Trill and Mordent, using Susan Stewart's theoretical framework on voice and possession from Poetry and the Fate of the Senses. The identification of voice and possession in the poems are done through the analysis of various elements of poetry: tone, silence, imagery, metaphor, and sound. The various aspects of sounds that are the used in this study are the use of sound through vowels and consonants and the repetition of sound. This study explains and identifies the uniqueness of voice and possession in poetry.
