Robots search and rescue operation using swarm behavior

Swarm robotics is a new approach to the coordination of large numbers of relatively simple robots. In this kind of robotic system, a single robot's capability is limited in terms of sensing, computation, and communication but its behavior can be designed in such a way that a global behavior eme...

Delos Santos, Jerico D. Espineli, Patrick P. Lim, Richardson M. Swarm robotics is a new approach to the coordination of large numbers of relatively simple robots. In this kind of robotic system, a single robot's capability is limited in terms of sensing, computation, and communication but its behavior can be designed in such a way that a global behavior emerges from the local interactions among robots and between the robot and its environment. In this paper the group presents the different components and the design considerations in creating a swarm of autonomous mobile robots (ACDEL-bots) that can perform a robot search and rescue operation. Also presented in this paper are the experimentations, results, and analysis of the search and rescue performance of the ACDEL-swarm. 2010-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_honors/335 Honors Theses English Animo Repository Robotics Swarm intelligence Search and rescue operations
