| Summary: | This study involved six cases of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, both local and international. Multiple case study approach was employed to have a better understanding of the experiences of six Filipinas forced into prostitution. Results revealed the deceptive nature of recruitment of women, the exploitative and abusive nature of work at destination city/country and the risks and harms of sex trafficking on womens health and well-being. Results also showed the remarkable courage, strength, hope and resilience displayed by trafficked women in the face of threats and difficulties. These positive traits allowed them to minimize the risks and eventually leave their trafficking situation. Trafficked womens issues and concerns at reintegration stage were also discussed. |
