Harrison (2009) explains that effective academic advising becomes an important factor for the students development. The purpose of this action research is to find out if integrating a social networking website will be beneficial to the Computer Applications Program ID number 112 students at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB). The main goal is to streamline the academic advising process and to provide a channel for the academic advisers and student advisees to communicate via a social networking website. Hableys (1986) Conceptual Framework for advising was used in this action research as the framework comprised of components related to academic advising. The components are relevant to information on academic advising, its policies and procedures, and understanding students personal, social, and academic needs. This action research paper would highlight the current problems encountered in the academic advising consultation process of DLS-CSB, implementation of intervention, its outcomes and my learning. This paper also discussed the results of the action implemented using Scheins (1999) ORJI (Observation, Reaction, Judgement, and Intervention) method. The implementation of the action research resulted in building a communication channel between the student advisees and the academic advisers. This also resulted in inclusion of majority of the student advisees in the social networking website and non-participation among other Computer Applications Program academic advisers. 2014-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/4736 Master's Theses English Animo Repository |
