Description
Summary:I believe that delegation is essential in every organization as it reflects people management, leadership and empowerment. Through my Integrated Action Research (IAR), I addressed the lack of appropriate delegation of tasks among officers in our division at the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr), namely, the Fund Management Division (FMD). My research aimed to clear the additional roles, duties and responsibilities under our division to achieve our goal of operational efficiency. Every step of my IAR was done through close collaboration with my colleagues, including my boss. I explored different literatures regarding delegation to gain background about it and find studies on similar situations such as ours. To help me implement change at the Bureau, I applied Lewin’s Change Management Framework. I used triangulation approach, three voices, and three types of inquiry together with the cooperative inquiry to collect and validate data. I also employed frameworks such as the Leadership Continuum Model, Role-Based Delegation Model Zero, and DART Method as tools which aided me to complete the two cycles of my action research. In my first cycle, the creation of a task distribution plan as intervention was focused to resolve the issue at hand. While on the second cycle, revisions of the said task distribution plan was made to correct and address the shortfalls of the first plan. Through this action research, I have not only achieved my objectives and goals but also improved my collaboration and communication skills. Furthermore, I enhanced my relationship with my colleagues and superior. Because of this, I have jumped out of my comfort zone and embraced change together with my team, my division, and my employer, the Bureau.
