Description
Summary:The traffic situation in Metro Manila become complex because of the increasing number of malls, establishments, commuters and the worsening condition of roads during rush hour and rainy days. Manual dispatching encountered too much problem in designing profitable bus schedules because of the current situation in the metropolis. In this study, a centralized bus management system was proposed as a replacement to the manual dispatching system. This is a computer-based bus managing system aiming to control the dispatching of all metro buses inside the South Integrated Transport Terminal. There is management information system (personnel) that will handle the management of the system these are window manager, dispatcher and the Transit Operation supervisor. A genetic algorithm based program will handle the automation of bus timetable and scheduling development. The capability to solve complex problem is the advantage of genetic algorithm. The system will generate bus schedules and printed it for distribution. It contains travel details like, departure and arrival time per bus stop, expected revenue, and number of passenger per stations. The testing of the system composed of software test, connection test and bus schedule test (testing the revenue and travel time by comparing to a survey data). The result showed that the genetic based algorithm program generated a profitable bus schedules with average loading factor of 0.87 as compared with the current loading factor of 0.67 for the period of 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM in Coastal to Monumento bus route.
