Improving timeliness of submission of periodic reports through scheduled updating

My action research addressed the issue I identified collaboratively with my co-researchers which is the delayed submission of periodic reports of our Division. The objective, therefore, was to improve the timeliness of our submission by having zero late submissions by employing Kurt Lewins Change 3-step Change Management Model. As an insider action researcher, I applied triangulation of data during data generation by employing different methods both in formal and informal settings, such as observation, informal discussions, formal meetings, one-on-one talks, and examination of certain documents. Two cycles of action research were undertaken for this study. In the first cycle, we agreed to schedule our updating of our reports to once a month: every first Monday of the following month. However, we did not meet the zero late submission objective. In the second cycle, we agreed to address the order of presentation of the banks under our supervision by alphabetizing them and assigning a number sequence in order to avoid the overwriting incident that occurred during the implementation of the first cycle intervention. But just like in the first cycle, we did not meet the objective of the study, but this is no longer due to the original issues identified but more on the nature of the reports themselves. Hence, among my recommendations included implementing a third cycle to go back to addressing the timeliness issue previously identified. Despite the collaborative nature of this paper, this action research turned out to be a journey of self-discovery and growth.
