Studies show that task characteristics, the satisfaction of employees in their job and citizenship behavior are important for the success of organizations. Literature argued that job design can increase the satisfaction of employees in their job and in the organization as well as exhibit organizational citizenship behavior. In this study, the author aims to extend past research by examining the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between specific job characteristics such as autonomy and feedback, and organizational citizenship behavior. Data were collected from 213 academic and administrative staff of private higher educational institutions in Lucena City of Quezon Province. Using Hayes Process Model, the results showed that job satisfaction mediates the relationship of autonomy and OCB, and feedback and OCB. The findings suggest that organization should enrich job characteristics through autonomy and feedback to enhance job satisfaction and promote employees’ OCB. Direction for future research and implications for applied settings was also discussed.
