The purpose of this action research was to streamline the order fulfillment process of Total Enterprises, a direct distributor of moulded plastic furniture and pallets. Through the use of first-person and second-person inquiry, my collaborators and I were able to clarify the issue as consisting of problems with inventory (inbound logistics) and problems with delivery (outbound logistics). Guided by the Japanese 5S concept, we engaged in a series of cleaning and organizing activities, followed by the creation of a logistic management system consisting of tools and policies to achieve the perfect order: optimizing order fill, on-time delivery, and the absence of product returns.
