Description
Summary:The action research delves into the dynamics of a family-owned construction company amidst a conflict. Initially, the action research examined an overview of the industry and the family business as a critical sector in the study of business. Causes of conflict and management techniques were also explored. The summary of the literature concluded with the adoption of professionalization and "family gravity" as the best practice to prevent conflict. The action research integrates organizational behavior (OB) concepts such as integrative bargaining and positive reinforcement in conflict resolution and implementation of standards. The family members were able to reach an agreement and collaborated to move away from dysfunctional conflict. The action research presents a conceptual framework for family business negotiation as a result of the outcomes and reflection during the action research. Given the importance of family businesses, further study can be considered for strategic planning and establishing a family constitution.
