Description
Summary:In this Action Research, we have collaboratively identified the issue of having difficulty in processing proposals due to unreliability of HRIS. This was identified through series of meetings and discussions of the division. By using Toyoda’s (1930) 5 Why’s Analysis, we were able to track down the root cause of the issue which is the lack of collaboration and communication among divisions of the department. This project aimed to (1) improve the HRIS and use it as a reliable source of data, and (2) create a collaborative work environment among the employees. We have employed Telliogu’s (2018) Collaboration Lifecycle in order to increase collaboration and communication between the divisions of the department. We have also used Lewin’s (2008) Change Management Model to guide us in initiating change in our workplace. The interventions we have implemented to address the issue currently being experienced with the HRIS are: (1) implementation of a weekly or monthly meeting of the divisions, (2) creation of a Corrective Action Sheet, and (3) creation of a Monitoring Tool. These interventions were successfully implemented and it helped achieve the objectives of this project. This project has made me a better person and taught me to be mindful of my actions and assumptions. Also, our team have realized the importance of teamwork in order to achieve a common goal. I have also observed the positive impact of this project to my colleagues as they became more open in discussing issues and giving their suggestions and opinions. The opportunity to address the issue at hand was beneficial not just for the department but also for the Bank as a whole, especially in meeting the needs of internal clients.
