This action research addressed the issue of the lack of a job description and performance evaluation that leads to employee low performance in a small construction company. Thus, to generate higher employee performance, this action research focused on establishing a formal job description and a performance evaluation tool for our employees. Our company is a service company which provides architectural and engineering services to various clients. I serve as an Administrative and Finance Manager in our company and part of my work is supporting our Human Resources in their work performance. As a relatively young company, we do not have formal procedures in place. In collaboration with our company’s President, and employees guided by the Katz and Kahn’s Role Theory, Schein’s Job/Role Analysis and Planning and ADKAR model, we implemented the following interventions: (1) define job roles and create job descriptions; and (2) design and implement a Performance Evaluation tool. The establishment of job roles and job descriptions resulted in a clearer understanding by our employees of their roles and responsibilities in our organization. Together with the creation of a Performance Evaluation tool, work performance of employees was improved. This has helped the employees and the Management to assess whether the expectations set have been met. This action research is significant in confirming that Human Resources is an important aspect in every organization’s operations. 2019-07-18T07:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/7067 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Job descriptions Employees—Rating of Personnel management Construction industry—Personnel management Human Resources Management |
