This study aims to develop a set of functional homeroom activities that could be used to meet the philosophy and objectives of guidance and serve as a vehicle for guidance purposes. The subjects of this study were 198 grade five students enrolled in Manuyo Elementary School during the school year 1975-1976. The problem checklist for students was constructed to discover the students' interests, problems, and guidance needs. The checklist locally adapted from the SRA junior inventory form S for grades 4 to 8. Percentages and ranking were used for the problem checklist. Chi-square was used for responses that could be categorized. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the problems of the students revolved around the desire to seek help in their studies, getting poor marks, inability to work on their home assignments or difficulty in some subjects like Math and Science. Generally, the home conditions as well as the physical, emotional, and mental health of the students under study could be considered as deficient and inadequate for normal human development. Earning a livelihood to help parents was also one of the major concerns of the students. Results further showed that students would like to be helped in tackling their difficulties. To attain the objectives of the goals of guidance in school, it was recommended that in-service training should be conducted for administrators, guidance coordinators, counselors, and teachers on their role and duties for an effective homeroom guidance period plan. The proposed homeroom kit should also be implemented. School-home relations and the pupils' relationship with others should be improved continually. These activities could be taken as good material for discussion and activity during the homeroom period as found in the homeroom kit. 1976-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/409 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Home room guidance Counseling
