This study investigates whether teaching experience is a factor related to teaching competency, and compares teachers' self-ratings and students' ratings of teaching competency. The descriptive-survey method through a questionnaire checklist was used to gather data. The respondents were composed of 29 teachers and 398 students in English, mathematics and science from four Catholic private secondary schools--Metropolitan Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. In order to determine the degree of relationship, the Coefficient of Correlation was computed by the Pearson Product Moment Method. The t-test was availed of to test the significance of difference between the teachers' self-ratings and students' ratings. This study found out that teaching experience has no significant relationship to teachers' self-ratings. Teaching experience in relation to students' ratings also proved to have no significant relationship. Student ratings did not correlate with teachers' self-ratings. The t-test revealed that there is a significant difference between teachers' self-ratings and students' ratings. v. 2. This study produces a working manual for the Project Development, Evaluation, and Planning Division (PDEPD) of the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE). The interview method and library research were used to gather information on existing procedures along with the writer's experience in handling certain tasks in the Division. The study found out that there were some weaknesses in office procedure particularly the processing scheme so that modifications and revisions have been included in the working manual. In as much as the working manual gives a concrete guide and reference, then it can be applied and used by the different clientele. The writer strongly recommends that after the use of the Manual for one year, it should be open for study, criticism and evaluation so that further modifications may be made to make it more usable and relevant. v. 3. This case involves Dr. Demetrio Chavez, Director of the Planning and Development Office of the Philippines Educational Foundation (PEF), who wrote a memorandum addressed to the President of PEF, separating Mr. Arthur Salvador from the Planning and Development Office, effective immediately. This memorandum was written after a series of absences, leaves, and incidents showing disregard of authority by Mr. Salvador. Prior to this memo, several warning letters were already sent him. Alternative actions presented were : 1. Retain Mr. Salvador in the organization with more challenging assignments and possibly a new supervisor. However, this might aggravate the already demoralized condition of the other staff members. 2. Calling the attention of the Director that similar incidents should be handled more sternly at an early stage. 3. Termination of Mr. Salvador. 1977-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/468 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Teacher effectiveness Teachers--Rating of Project management Project management--Case studies Secondary Education and Teaching |
