The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between the students' and the administrators' ratings of teacher effectiveness in order to establish the utility of student evaluation in Binalbagan Catholic College. The general problem was: How do the students' ratings correlate with the administrators' ratings of teacher effectiveness. Used in this investigation, was the descriptive survey method. A correlation treatment was made in order to determine the relationship between the students' and the administrators' ratings of teacher effectiveness. The subjects were twenty teachers who were rated by one of their classes and by two administrators. The writer made use of an evaluation instrument which was adapted from different sources: Dr. Campos' rating scale, Kendell Tang's TBI and evaluation form of Divine Word of Tacloban. Then, the data processing included the computation of the means of the summated ratings for each of the twenty items. The mean of the ratings assigned by the students to each teacher was also calculated. The ranking of the teacher qualities was based on the mean rating for each item. Reliability coefficient of the rating instrument was calculated by means of the Spearman-brown formula. On the other hand, to test the hypothesis, the Pearson Product Moment of Correlation was used for determining the relationship between the students' and the administrators' ratings either item by item or by the over-all mean of the itemized ratings of teacher effectiveness. Lastly, a t-test for each obtained r was made to find out whether the relationship was significant or not. 1978-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/563 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Teacher effectiveness, Delegation of authority Educational Administration and Supervision |
