Eavesdropping, forgery, manipulation of information, and other computer-related crimes are bound to increase drastically due to lack of efficient security measures. A secure and less inexpensive way of protecting valuable information from being extracted or modified by unauthorized parties is to resort to cryptosystems.This study aims to develop a secure microcomputer-based communication system utilizing the RSA public-key cryptosystem. The researcher came up with a system design of a communication system implementing the RSA cryptographic scheme. A software named Cryptowriter was developed. It was specifically designed for the security of text files stored in floppy diskettes.
